Singapore O-Level Examination The Singapore O-Level examination is a unified examination jointly organized by the Singapore Ministry of Education and the University of Cambridge International Examinations. After completing Secondary 4, Singaporean students can take the O-Level examination. Based on their examination results, students can apply to Singapore Polytechnic or a Junior College.
Age of Applicants: Between 14 and 25 years old
Application Period: February to March
Examination Period: May to October
Subjects: English, Chinese, Mathematics, Science (Physics and Chemistry), Humanities (Geography and History), and others. Students must choose at least four subjects, with English, Chinese, and Mathematics being compulsory.
Requirements for Admission to Singapore Polytechnic: Students need to study the EL-R2-B2 curriculum.
*One academic year can be dedicated to completing 5 subjects, or alternatively, candidates can accumulate the best scores from two O-Level exams to apply to local government polytechnics.*
*Requirements for admission to Singapore Government Junior Colleges and Millennia Institute:* Candidates must study the following L1-R5 or L1-R4 courses as prescribed by the Ministry of Education.
Grading and scoring system for the examinations
*The grading scale will be adjusted annually based on the examination level of students that year. Singapore GCE O-Level belongs to the examination system of the Commonwealth and allows admission to pre-university programs at prestigious universities in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and other countries. |
