IELTS

IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is a standardized English language proficiency test developed by Cambridge English Language Assessment, the British Council, and IDP Education. It assesses the language ability of candidates who need to study or work where English is the language of communication. IELTS is recognized by universities and employers in many countries, including Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UK, and the USA.

The IELTS test consists of four modules:

1. Listening: 30 minutes

   - Four recordings, including conversations and monologues, are played, and candidates answer questions based on what they hear.

2. Reading: 60 minutes

   - Three passages are provided, and candidates answer questions to demonstrate their understanding of the texts.

3. Writing: 60 minutes

   - Task 1: A 150-word report summarizing information presented in a graph, chart, table, or diagram.

   - Task 2: A 250-word essay expressing an opinion or argument on a given topic.

4. Speaking: 11-14 minutes

   - A face-to-face interview with an examiner, including a short introduction, a discussion on a familiar topic, and a more extended discussion on the same topic.

The test is scored on a scale from 1 to 9 for each module, with 9 being the highest score. Candidates receive an overall band score, which is the average of the four module scores, rounded to the nearest half or whole band. Each module is assessed independently.
