PSLE
The PSLE, or Primary School Leaving Examination, is a national standardized test conducted by the Singapore Ministry of Education to assess the abilities of sixth-grade students and allocate them to appropriate secondary schools.
PSLE Examination Content: - P1/P2: English, Chinese, Mathematics - P3/P4: English, Chinese, Mathematics, Science - P5/P6: English, Chinese, Mathematics, Science, Higher Mother Tongue
PSLE Streaming System: Based on PSLE scores, students are allocated to different secondary schools. The top performers enter the "express" stream without needing to sit for a separate entrance exam.
There are five types of courses when enrolling in secondary school: Express, Normal (Academic), Normal (Technical), Integrated Program (IP), and Chinese Special Program.
The top students can sit for the Singapore-Cambridge GCE O-Level examination in their fourth year of secondary school. The results of these exams determine admission to junior colleges and polytechnics. |
